Springpoint’s Approach to Senior Healthcare
Since becoming part of the Springpoint Senior Living family of communities, residents and the staff at The Moorings at Lewes have welcomed the resources and knowledge Springpoint offers to fully support our CCRC in Delaware. Springpoint’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of the residents, families and communities we serve, and it’s our vision to be the leader in innovative housing, healthcare and integrated supportive solutions.
We take particular pride in our person-centered approach to healthcare, our ACO memberships and the positive comments from families that the skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers within our communities receive regularly. At The Moorings, we are fully committed to a wellness approach to living, and the philosophy of care in our nonprofit Health Center is focused on ensuring the highest quality of life possible through both superior services and the enhancement of each individual’s abilities.
A Tradition of Excellence in Senior Healthcare
Backed by Springpoint Senior Living, The Moorings has the resources of a large organization that a stand-alone community cannot provide. As a leader in senior living and healthcare, Springpoint offers the following to the health centers within our communities:
Person-Centered Care
In recent years, person-centered care has become a movement transforming senior living communities throughout the country. This holistic approach to healthcare focuses on not only the quality of the care provided to residents, but also ensuring the highest quality of life possible. This is done by allowing residents control over their daily lives, so they may make their own decisions and set their own routines. All levels of staff are involved in the care process, as well as the residents’ families. The goal is to provide a familiar, comfortable and private environment for residents while focusing on what they can do, rather than what they cannot do.
ACO Membership
Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) are groups of doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers, including senior living communities, who come together voluntarily to give coordinated high-quality care to their Medicare patients. The basic idea is that the providers coordinate care among themselves, and as they hit certain quality metrics they share in the savings if they come in under Medicare cost thresholds. Several Springpoint senior living communities have been accepted to become part their local ACOs based on specific criteria, including quality of care, operations, leadership and cost-effective care. As an ACO participant, our communities are working collaboratively with others to provide a better level of integrated care, reduce hospital admissions and improve the overall health and well-being of our healthcare residents. While the landscape of healthcare is changing dramatically, our Springpoint communities continually discover better ways to deliver quality care.
Innovations that Ensure High-Quality Care
To ensure the highest quality care, Springpoint communities utilize electronic health records (EHR). This means our staff has instant access to the most updated information about our residents’ health at all times. Using EHR also improves the lines of communication among our caregiving team, which provides more effective, person-centered care and improves the satisfaction of our residents and their families. Plus, our healthcare centers are staffed above the recommended state requirements.
Surprise Inspections
It’s standard practice for all CCRCs to undergo regular state health inspections. However, Springpoint takes these standard inpections a step further by conducting our own surprise inspections, checking in on our communities to ensure we’re always meeting our high standards of senior care.
Wellness Opportunities Above and Beyond Standard Care
Senior healthcare at Springpoint communities means more than just high quality medical care. Residents not only receive personalized care plans designed for their specific needs, but they also enjoy a variety of wellness opportunities to ensure they’re thriving. As part of our skilled nursing centers, residents take part in social activities and events, have access to a variety of unique amenities and nutritious dining options, can participate in fitness classes and more, leading to a higher quality of life.
