Quick Summary: Springpoint’s Affordable Housing Wellness Initiative is expanding access to LivWell wellness programming for residents of affordable senior housing communities. Launched in 2021 with support from Parker Health Group, the initiative expanded to four additional communities in 2024 and now serves more than 185 residents, with a goal of eventually reaching all 19 Springpoint affordable housing communities in New Jersey. The program recently received LeadingAge New Jersey & Delaware’s Excellence in Innovation award, recognizing its focus on whole-person wellness, connection, and quality of life for older adults.
We believe wellness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live. That belief is at the heart of our Affordable Housing Wellness Initiative, which recently received the Excellence in Innovation award from LeadingAge New Jersey & Delaware.
Through this initiative, we’re bringing our LivWell wellness programming to residents of our affordable housing communities. The program creates opportunities for older adults to focus on physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and other dimensions of well-being while building connections and discovering new interests.
For us, this recognition represents more than an award. It reflects our commitment to supporting quality of life for the older adults we serve, including those who call our affordable senior housing communities home.
Bringing LivWell to Affordable Senior Housing
Our Affordable Housing Wellness Initiative launched in 2021 through the Springpoint Foundation, with support from Parker Health Group. The original three-year pilot brought LivWell programming to residents in four of our affordable housing communities.
LivWell takes a whole-person approach to wellness. That means senior wellness can look different for everyone. One resident might enjoy a fitness activity, while another might find connection through a social program, explore a new interest, or participate in an educational opportunity.
By bringing LivWell into our affordable housing communities, we’re making these opportunities available to more residents. It’s an important part of our commitment to providing more than a place to live. We want our communities to be places where older adults can stay engaged, connected, and active in the things that matter to them. Growing Our Senior Affordable Housing Wellness Initiative
The initiative has continued to grow since its launch. In 2024, Parker Health Group renewed its partnership with us, allowing the program to expand to four additional communities.
Today, more than 185 residents are enrolled, and our goal is to eventually bring the initiative to all 19 of our affordable housing communities throughout New Jersey.
That growth is especially meaningful to us because access to wellness opportunities shouldn’t depend on the type of community someone calls home. Our senior affordable housing communities provide older adults with an affordable place to live, and programs like LivWell give residents additional opportunities to focus on their health, interests, relationships, and sense of purpose.

What Wellness Means to Us
Wellness is about much more than exercise. While staying physically active is important, so are social connections, lifelong learning, emotional well-being, creativity, and having opportunities to contribute and stay involved.
That’s why our LivWell approach includes seven dimensions of wellness: physical, intellectual, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual, and vocational.
Not every resident will connect with every dimension in the same way, and that’s okay. Our goal is to provide choices and opportunities so residents can find the activities and experiences that are meaningful to them.
That approach is particularly important in nonprofit senior housing, where creating a strong sense of community can have a meaningful impact on everyday life.
Recognizing an Important Partnership
LeadingAge New Jersey & Delaware presented us with the Excellence in Innovation award in recognition of the Affordable Housing Wellness Initiative.
We’re proud of what this partnership has made possible. What began as a pilot has continued to grow, reaching more residents and more communities each year.
The initiative also reflects the important role of our Springpoint Foundation, which supports programs and services that enhance the lives of older adults. Through partnerships and philanthropic support, we’re able to continue expanding opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach for some residents.

Continuing Our Commitment to Wellness
Receiving the Excellence in Innovation award is a meaningful recognition of what we’ve accomplished, but we see it as part of an ongoing effort.
With more than 185 residents currently participating and a goal of eventually reaching all 19 of our affordable housing communities, there is still room to grow.
For us, providing affordable senior housing means more than offering a comfortable and affordable place to call home. It means looking for ways to support the whole person and create opportunities for residents to connect, learn, stay active, and enjoy the things that make everyday life meaningful.
We’re proud to bring that commitment to more of our communities through the Affordable Housing Wellness Initiative, and we’re excited to continue building on what we’ve started.
