A senior woman smiles and laughs with a health care professional

At The Moorings at Lewes, we have two primary goals for our memory care residents: first, we want to help them live each moment with as much purpose and meaning as possible, and second, we want to help manage their health using advanced protocols. As a Life Plan Community, we offer a full continuum of care allowing residents to feel at ease knowing that if their needs change overtime, The Moorings at Lewes is able to adapt and support those needs.

These goals are intertwined in everything we do. Granting peace of mind to family members, ensuring them that their loved one’s overall health and well-being are taken care of at The Moorings at Lewes.

From comfortable private rooms to innovative therapy programs, it’s the kind of care we’d choose for ourselves.

How to Choose a Memory Care Community

There are a few critical elements you’ll want to look for when choosing a memory care community for your loved one. See below for the four essential pieces needed for choosing the the best care for your loved one:

  1. Highly-trained team members: Our team receives special one-on-one training in the delivery of personalized care that caters to every resident’s individual needs.
  2. Secure grounds: The Moorings at Lewes, is a peaceful and private community, secured with gated grounds that feature a serene outdoor patio and a courtyard. Ensuring that our residents are safe is our top priority, all while creating a fun and vibrant space for our residents to engage in.
  3. High-quality care: Our memory care residents receive 24/7 nursing care and medication management and have access to physicians, counseling, podiatry services, and physical therapy.
  4. Comfortable personal spaces: Both private and semi-private suites are available, all containing a private half bath. We encourage family members to bring in familiar pieces of furniture, photos, and other items to make this space feel as comfortable and familiar as home. Three meals a day (plus snacks), linen service, and weekly housekeeping are also provided.

Added Benefits: Discover Springpoint’s LivWell Program

While the above elements form the foundation for a quality memory care community, we strive to do far more than keep your loved one as healthy and safe as possible.

It’s our goal to also offer moments of joy, connection, and peace.

One of the ways we do that is by partnering with the Delaware Music & Memory program, which uses music to enrich the lives of people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Residents receive a portable music player downloaded with their favorite songs. Even when someone has lost the ability to communicate, they can often still recall the words to a meaningful song, allowing them to engage with others through music.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, music has been proven to help reduce negative emotions like stress and agitation while boosting positive feelings. It can also encourage movement, such as clapping and dancing, which adds to a feeling of well-being.

Followed by a wide variety of other life-enriching cultural, spiritual, educational, and social activities, at The Moorings at Lewes we ensure that every day endless opportunities.
